TREATMENT FOR TINY SKIN COLOURED BUMPS

Last month I finally got the chance to visit my family in tropical Sri Lanka. With travel plans for only two weeks, I didn’t want to lug my entire skincare collection so I packed only the bare essentials.

Taking only a face wash and moisturizer turned out to be a mistake. After wearing makeup and sunscreen almost everyday, I started to notice tiny skin coloured bumps under my eyes and around my mouth. Unlike white heads, these bumps were skin colour and tiny in size.  I’m talking about 20 tiny bumps under each eye and around my mouth. It almost resembled a rash but I couldn’t figure out what to do with only two skincare products.

So I ignored it until I came back to Melbourne.

With the humid weather that plumped my skin gone, Melbourne’s dry heat intensified my irritated skin. The only bacterial killing product I had was Thursday Plantations Tea Tree face cream.

After cleansing my face, I applied a thin layer of cream under my eyes and around my mouth.  By the next morning my bumps were almost gone! I couldn’t believe such a drastic change occurred in less than 9 hours.  By the third night, my bumps were gone.

Makeup and sunscreen had caused a condition called Milia. Milia are hard skin colored bumps that occur from an excess build up of dead skin cells (aka keratin). Basically by being a lazy ass and not removing my makeup and sunscreen properly had cause my skin to react.

Tea tree oils antibacterial and fungal killing properties is ace for cleaning out congested skin. In my case the cream helped to soothe and clean the rash like reaction. Tea tree oil alone can be drying and very strong. ALWAYS mix a little with another cream/oil to avoid burning your skin.

Thursday Plantations Tea Tree cream is the perfect combination of moisturizing and healing. It’s thick texture is very moisturizing as the added vitamin E and rosehip hydrates dry skin. I personally love the smell of tea tree or anything antibacterial for that matter, but it could be too strong for sensitive noses.

For clearing up my tiny bumps this cream was a life saver. I cannot stress however, the importance of proper makeup removal! Thoroughly exfoliating with a gentle scrub or brush once or twice a week brightens and softens the skin. If you’ve skipped on this and need a quick fix for stubborn bumps, then definitely give Tea Tree face cream a go.

AESOP MANDARIN FACIAL HYDRATING CREAM Desha Beauty

Aesop Mandarin Hydrating Facial Cream

Oh, dear.

Looks like I’ve been away for a while, but it’s all dandy because I’m finally back.  I’ve been so occupied with other parts of my life that blogging was temporarily sitting on the back burner. The good news is I’m finally a qualified Makeup Artist! More importantly I’m rollin’ in the sweet happiness of Makeup Artist Industry Discounts.

Moving along. winter has been drying out my skin to which my jojoba oil has been struggling keep moisturised. Most moisturisers I’ve tried in the past absorb nicely into my skin but fail to act as a barrier for the excess oil dripping down my face.  Finding the perfect product for my oily but dry skin has been a struggle, until I tried Aesop’s Mandarin Facial Hydrating Moisturizer. AL’CHEMY HAIR CARE

Al'chemy Hair

Al’chemy Hair Trio

A couple of days ago i heard a girl in my makeup class jokingly comment that because she’d run out of shampoo she used detergent to wash her hair. We all laughed at the idea but then the hairdressing teacher next door chipped in and added that supermarket shampoos are practically glamorized versions of household detergent, so washing hair with a household cleaning liquid wouldn’t be anymore damaging. Now, I knew that supermarket haircare products aren’t the best option for hair, but hearing that those products are on par with something I clean dirty dishes with, shocked me into buying some organic natural hair items. BDELLIUM TOOLS BAMBU BRUSHES

BDELLIUM TOOLS I have over 40 brushes in my makeup kit, but for my own personal use I only need four brushes to complete my speedy morning makeup.  Most morning I don’t wear makeup because I will just have to remove it once I get to makeup school, but on the occasion I do, I try to do it as fast and concisely as possible. As I wash brushes everyday, I try to use the least amount for my personal routine, because washing brushes is the most tedious task of. READ MORE

MANIC PANIC PURPLE HAZE

Manic Panic Purple Haze

Manic Panic Purple Haze

A while back, I tested out purple hair with L’Oreal Professional Hair Chalk which gave me short-lived purple hair happiness. Since then, I chopped off my hair to a shot bob and I wanted to try purple hair again. The options for vegan permanent hair dye are extremely slim, so I opted to try semi-permanent hair colour by Manic Panic. READ MORE

AUSTRALIAN PURE FACE WASH

Australian Pure Beauty Face Wash Desha Beauty

Australian Pure Beauty Face Wash on greenery

Aka, the cleanser that has given me the cleanest facial feeling of my life.

So, for the last month or so, I’ve been cheating on my Cetaphil Cleanser that has held my hand through my turbulent time with acne, with the Australian Pure face wash. For a long time (I’m talking years), Cetaphil was the only cleanser that I would put near my face because it was so gentle and moisturising on my sensitive skin. But I didn’t actually realise how much residue was left on my skin until I used Australian Pure face wash.

I mean my skin was properly clean. No film of moisturiser, oil or dirt was left sitting on my face, yet my skin didn’t feel tight or dry. I was even wearing a light coat of foundation and that melted into oblivion after I was done cleansing for a good minute.

Australian owned and not tested on animals

Because this cleanser foams up in seconds, I only have to use the tiniest amount for a full face clean and it leaves a subtle botanical fragrance on my skin. The plant fragrance may not be for everyone, but I find it really wakes up my senses in the morning when my still half asleep.

But all the benefits of this cleanser means nothing if it’s not vegan, and luckily its 100% plant-based with no mineral oil, SLES, SLS or synthetic fragrance. Australian Pure Beauty is owned by Natures Organics, who are an accredited cruelty free vegan company and they also sell a range of haircare, skincare and household cleaning products.

Seems to be some recycled plastic wizardry used on the packaging

For a vegan product it’s suspiciously cheap at under $6. I can’t even find a good-sized piece of vegan chocolate for that price. You can grab some Australian Pure face wash at major supermarkets and Ethical Buying.
